Decoration Day to Feature Strauser Band in Washington

The Journals announce Strauser's Second Regiment Band from Davenport will furnish music for Decoration Day. Co D seeks funds to bring them to Washington, with regional bands invited to attend. Gov Drake's hoped for presence increases local anticipation for a memorable commemoration. Mrs. S. D. Carris returns home from Dublin following a visit with E. C. Carris Pharmacy relatives.

Visiting Tuesday afternoon session opens cordial convention notes

A church convention opened with singing and prayer led by Rev Van Schoiack and greetings from Mrs Counsel man and Mrs Van Schoiack. Reports from auxiliaries across multiple towns were presented followed by remarks on Miss Galloway and missionary work in China.

Aurora Declamatory Contest Honors Awarded to Latta and Chittim

The Aurora declamatory contest in Academy chapel awarded Elwyn Latta first and Roscoe Chittim second honors. Latta impressed with The Chariot Race while Chittim delivered The Fireman’s Prayer in a forceful voice. Judges were Mrs Alma White Rev. Stark and Mr Whitney.

Aurora Cont est celebrates Shiloh anniversary with Wyman recital

Frances Wyman delivered a brilliant recital at the Graham to a packed crowd drawn from Mediapolis and nearby areas. The program featured Schumann and Moszkowski works, with strong praise for Wyman and fellow artists Heywood and Sommers, amid bouquets and enthusiastic encore requests. Mrs Scofield hosted a Burlington party reception afterward on West Main Street.

Competitor sold to Peters at Abingdon Lowa

The trotting stallion Competitor 6095 sired by Onward and rated 2 25 was sold today by owner A Anderson to J I Peters of Abingdon Lowa. He had a first premium in the standard class at the state fair and is hailed as a fine horse of the region, though there is concern he may leave the country.

Anniversary Celebration Fetes Shiloh Battle Veterans

Last evening the G A R and W R C held an anniversary event at the hall east of the square commemorating the Battle of Shiloh with 2d 7th Sth and 1th Iowa among participants. Hard tack coffee and bacon and crackers were served while a program featured J S Nichols A S Folger Judge A R Dewey S W Reed Lush Teas Captain J J Kellogg and Miss Amy Folger. The room was filled and the crowd enjoyed songs and a Lou Kellogg solo. LD Coulter lies ill at his Washington home.

Blair guests attend Wy tian recital on East Washington

Mr and Mrs Gieo Blair and Mrs Edwin Blair arrived in the city yesterday and are staying with Mr and Mrs Jas Shearer on East Washington street. Ralph Dougherty returned from Mediapolis this morning.
