Brighton road dispute fuels county board session
A Brighton delegation pressed the county board over a disputed road project amid arguments by C. Humble and John Hicks against the plan while Buchart McCaulley and Deeds support it. The board heard witnesses and weighed how many schoolchildren would benefit. Earlier, attorney J. F. Henderson injured his face when a loose board caused a fall. he required medical aid and will wear a bandage.

Fisher Dead After Sudden Pain At Gilsey House
William G. Fisher a 53 year old dry goods millionaire from Denver died at the Gilsey house New York after a night of severe leg pains. He had been in the east buying goods with H C Houtz and had suffered a nervous disease for years. He will be interred in Denver. His brother Rev John Fisher in Newark NJ was notified.

The Washington Iowa city council establishes a sidewalk along West Madison Street in front of St. James school with four feet width in front of the property and three feet elsewhere. Property owners must build within thirty days or the street commissioner will do so and tax the adjacent owners. The mayor is GRO Ross with City Clerk J J Kellogg. City School Adds Year to Regular Course
The school extends the regular course by one year removing chemistry astronomy and word analysis to deepen existing studies. From grammar through all grades the curriculum becomes more thorough and systematic and allows students to devote proper effort to all subjects. It is not yet clear if there will be a high school commencement this year.

Death of Miss Dollie Collett at Home
Miss Dollie Myrtle Collett died at her home last evening at ten o'clock after a serious illness. A Keokuk county native aged eighteen, she leaves a bereaved family and many friends. The funeral, conducted by Rey Gray, will be held tomorrow at three o'clock.
