Two injured in near head-on highway crash near Brighton
Two persons were seriously injured in a snowbound crash two miles north of Brighton on Highway 1. Ethel I. Hanze 62 of Brighton and Gordon E. Hunter 51 of Decorah suffered leg injuries and lacerations and were taken to Washington County Hospital. The 8:45 a.m. collision occurred during blowing snow with the road 100 percent snow covered. Estimated vehicle damage was $6,600. A second weather related crash near six miles south of Washington involved Evelyn M. Leeper, who slid off Highway 1 and overturned. she had no serious injuries and about $100 in damage ensued.
