Four people died in Iowa as a post season winter storm dumped up to six inches of snow and hampered power restorations. Des Moines recorded 4.7 inches, boosting the season total to 59.7 inches, the fourth greatest on record.
Public invited for the Washington YWCA fifty year celebration on Saturday April 12 at 6 30 p m in the Y building Community room. Local talent will perform skits music and entertainment as part of the annual meeting. Mrs John Owen chairs the program and dinner open to all. Tickets cost 2 50 and are sold by Mrs Jackie Wells or by calling Mrs Charles Morris.
Children in the Ainsworth area are invited to a 10 a.m. Saturday games event at the Ainsworth school gym hosted by the Lions Club. Pre schoolers and elementary students receive candy eggs. the group previously canceled its Easter Egg hunt last Saturday.

President Ford pledged humanitarian help for South Vietnamese refugees and vowed protection for Americans at risk as the U S prepares a firm Congress backed commitment. He urged unity, warned enemies should not doubt U S resolve, and cited instability in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
county commissioner of elections Walter Schroeder reports 5 769 registered voters in Washington County with 2 315 Republicans about 40 percent 1 252 Democrats and 2 202 independents. He warns thousands remain unregistered and up to 3 000 may become ineligible without registering under a new Iowa law requiring registration 10 days before elections. Registration is at the county auditor's office in the courthouse.
Iowa may join the International Registration Plan expanding truck licensing to 13 states with two more ready in 1976. The House transportation committee approved the bill, shifting to a 72 hour 10 dollar trip permit and allowing multi year trailer plates to curb costs. A separate measure would curb local railroad rules by requiring state board approval for municipal regulations, with pre July 1 1975 ordinances subject to review.
