A Tuesday morning crowd watched E C Stevens bale fourteen tons of loose hay with an Eli baling machine powered by a six horsepower engine. Fourteen tons were stacked behind William Olson’s barn in a half day with five to seven men assisting. Stevens bought the machine from Ungrodt hardware and plans upgrades including a new threshing machine if local farmers join to plant small grains. The display suggests farm sizes are growing and regional growth may follow.
