A week of Blue Law observance was enough for most people as shops that usually stay open on Sundays reopened last Sunday. Pressure mounted to repeal or modify the order and about half the voters signed a petition at the common council meeting asking its recall. Prosecutions for Sunday violations were not likely.

Bijou Theatre Orchestra Honored By Steamer Turkke Cape Crew
The Bijou Theatre orchestra received a beautiful box of flowers on Sunday from the crew of the Canadian steamer Turkke Cape in appreciation for music played at the Saturday show. The English piece praised by the crew was well received by England subjects aboard. Miss Marrion Bell, daughter of Mr and Mrs F A Bell, returned Friday from Superior and will teach in the city schools next year.

Plant is Running Making of Brick Started at Washburn Plant
T J Skjelbred from Rice Lake has taken charge of the Washburn Brick plant. The facility began operations last week and is producing brick at a lively rate. A small crew is employed now, with plans to expand as operations improve. The brick quality is high and expected to sell well.

Beautification Plan for County Courthouse Grounds

Oscar Warner Drowns After Fainting Fit at Home
