Samuel F. Snively of Duluth sold 8242 acres in Bayfield County to Lewis Heins of Grand Rapids Iowa for 62570 dollars. The northern tract is timbered and cut over land. Heins plans to partition the property into smaller parcels for settlers.

Largest steamer reaches port with 10000 ton cargo
The steamer Socvapa discharged 10,000 tons of coal at the North Western Fuel Co docks, the largest boat ever in the port. It measures 524 feet long with a 54 foot beam and thirty hatches, and docks cannot accommodate a longer vessel.

Thompson of this city dies after illness
Thom. Thompson of this city died at Sister's hospital in Ashland Tuesday night after a long illness. The remains were brought home yesterday and the funeral will be held Saturday from the Norwegian Lutheran church with interment in the Protestant cemetery. He was a longtime resident with many friends and relatives mourning his loss. Millard Duffy is home from Superior for the summer.
