Moonshine Fatal to Young Man in Ashland
Dan McKenzie a 17 year old native of Drummondsville near Toronto Canada died at St Joseph hospital Ashland after consuming moonshine whiskey. He was taken to hospital in a half crazed state with swelling and intense pain and died shortly after arrival. Parents were notified. Moonshine poisoning is blamed for the death with reports of blindness insanity and death in such cases.

Breaks in the power line between here and Ashland caused partial outages, with transformers burning out locally and greater damage beyond the bay. Electric crews warn a longer storm would have strained the system, as river and dam sources supplied the city’s electricity.

Conditions are generally good, with rains helping growth and a potential bumper crop, though hay is slightly short and some root crops are less advanced. The county is expanding farmland, boosting Bayfield’s standing in agriculture and dairying.
