Washburn High School defeated Ashland High School 25 to 15 in a basketball game at the Opera House Friday night. Reported by witnesses the contest was one of the city’s best in years with Washburn showing clear superiority in scoring and play.
Gerge Reuter returns from St Paul after summer and fall stay. Win Olson repairs the Lund residence on Third Street and plans to move his family in. Olson sends his own home to H C Fabris while Mr and Mrs Falling will occupy it once Olson moves out.
Mrs John Anderson has rented the Tsebe Coffee residence and will move into it this week. Mrs A H Shafer left Monday for her former home at River Falls Wis. She will spend the holidays visiting with her parents. She will probably join her husband at Minneapolis after the holidays.
Ashland marked a historic day as every saloon in the city closed all day Sunday under a Civic League saloon pact. No liquor sold, no violations reported, and satisfaction with arrangements. the league urged the council to pass an ordinance enforcing Sunday closure and removal of private rooms, while weekday closing times remain undecided.

The tax roll for Clover is under collection after the original roll was destroyed by fire. A new roll exists. residents must contact Sheriff A B Severson in Washburn Wis. He will be at Herbster on December 23 to collect personal property taxes. Payments due by January 10 to avoid levy and sale of property.
