Abstract Office Moves Abstract Plant to City
Abstract Office August F. Hoffman of Iron River moves his abstract plant to the city and will share office space with Attorney John Walsh. The plant, moved from Iron River, is a card system for keeping records, originally made by Henry J. Weeks. Hoffman will reside here and manage the business. Louis Segal traveled to Bessemer this week and Undersheriff Andrew Johnson left for Herbster to collect town taxes.

Drowning Fatality After Bayfield Boat Capsize
Theodore Albon of Bayfield drowned about a mile offshore when his boat capsized during a seat swap with companion William Tebohld. Tebohld was rescued after clinging to the overturned craft for about ninety minutes, nearly insane from exposure. Albon, about 30, left Bayfield with Tebohld to row to Anderson's point on Bass Island.

Lighting Plant Commission Appointments Confirmed
At a special Common Council meeting Mayor Sweet named the city Electric Light Commissioners and the council confirmed the selections. D. M. Maxcy F. A. Bell A. I. Lien Gilbert Olson and James A. Sheridan were named to run the lighting plant. Patterson of the Dynamite plant was added to the School Commission from the first ward.

Suspected Burglar Rounded Up and Ordered Out of Town
Police have detained several suspicious individuals over the past week amid a surge in home entries in Ashland. One man hid under a bed at the Bernt Olson residence on seventh avenue and Bayfield street but was found by Mrs. Olson and arrested. He and his partner were both ordered to leave town.
