City Council Sets Tax Levy For Coming Year
City Common Council met at the city clerk’s office Tuesday evening and approved a tax levy of 43,507.80 dollars for the next year. The plan allocates funds to county and state taxes bonds and judgments library school and general purposes leaving 1,470.16 dollars for general use while the rest covers other obligations. The levy totals 43,507.80 dollars with distribution 10,793.96 to state and county taxes 4,443.68 for bonds and judgments and interest 13,000.00 in indebtedness certificates 1,800.00 for library 12,000.00 for school and 1,470.00 for the general fund.

Death of James Blake on Bayfield Street
James Blake died at his Bayfield street home last Sunday after an eighteen month illness due to multiple diseases. The Catholic church conducted his funeral Wednesday, with burial in the Catholic cemetery. He leaves a wife and son in the city and a Nash brother, plus other relatives.
