George F. Morgan, senior partner in Morgan and Axelberg, has sold his interest to H. P. Axelberg who now becomes sole proprietor. Morgan will relocate to Minneapolis with his brother to start an insurance and real estate business.
Delegates from ten Catholic rulers of Foresters meet in Ashland and vote to hold a big northern state and northern Michigan reunion. The first gathering is scheduled for May 24 in Ashland with many members and families expected to attend. Over 1100 members represented, with John Walsh W Dolan George Posey and Joseph Arseneau leading the assembly.
Ex Speaker Lenroot of Superior spent several hours in the city last Saturday meeting supporters and gauging voter sentiment. He is a candidate for Congress in the district opposing J. J. Jenkins and plans a summer return to continue his canvass.

The coroner’s inquest at Washburn Bayfield County finds Ole P Swanby died February 18 1908 from strychnine sulphate administered in a personal crisis. The state chemist report confirms the stomach contained strychnine and morphine. The verdict cites the death as self administered during a personal crisis at his Washburn home. E C Stevens and jurors sign the verdict March 30 1908. E C Alvord travels to Seattle to secure Captain Clinton deposition for the Hering vs Dynamite Co suit.
In Washburn a caucus at Swanley school house added a new ticket with Theodore Bender as Chairman Andrew Berge as Treasurer and Charles Young as Assessor. A prior caucus at Three Switch school house nominated Louis Kinstler for Chairman and A Rockstad for Treasurer. Berge, a Deputy Treasurer past year, has handled most duties for Mr. Glidde and is considered well qualified.
John Kelley, brought to the county jail ten days ago, suffers a severe smallpox case. He is isolated in a dedicated section with a keeper to prevent spread. strict precautions are taken.
The city spent nearly one hundred dollars in the past week to locate two fires that could have been extinguished with a simple pail of water.
S. D. Powell Register of Deeds of Wood county visited the city Saturday with his brother to inspect a fruit farm near Bayfield. A small crew has worked on the Tug Tom Dowling in recent days to repair and raise it after it went down last fall near the Hines mill site.
