U. S. Plans Evacuation From North China if Needed

The United States prepared to evacuate all Americans from North China in a state of emergency. Civilians and armed forces would withdraw to Tientsin, with the Asiatic fleet ready to assist. Minister MacMurray and Rear Admiral Bristol could issue orders as needed. The State Department hopes the move will not be necessary.

Three checks totaling 82.14 were mailed to Tribune accident policy subscribers. Clayton O. Warning device at F N crossing proposed by Warren County Club

White Rose Amusement Park Fined for Sunday Law Violations

York May 22 Fred G Bothwell manager of the White Rose amusement park paid a $100 fine and costs for operating on Sunday in defiance of city and state blue laws of 1794. Five assistants were fined $10 each. Last year Rothwell sought an injunction to prevent enforcement of the law.

West End Romeos Declare Open Door Policy on South Side

A West End delegation told the Tribune that an open door policy exists at the South Side end of the bridge after a friendly clash at the Brewery lot. West End youths claim victory and say they may call on South Side girls' homes, at least until another test of strength.

Daylight saving vote set by Warren officials

Preparations underway for private election Saturday to determine daylight saving adoption. Burgess Chapman says approval leads to proclamation, rejection means veto. County officials M Brady, E D Stewart, County Clerk Leavy, and County Solicitor Peter Nelson visited the grave of Hon. Henry Rouse at Mayville. They checked upkeep and flowers on the grave. Rouse founded the Rouse Fund of 160000 dollars, with half for the poor and half for county roads. He was born October 9, 1823, and died April 17, 1861.

Mail pilot killed as plane crashes near Richmond

Edward J. Horrissey, 35, a mail pilot delivering from New York on the New York Atlanta route, died when his plane nose dived and engine trouble halted return to the field. Fog prevented a safe landing and he was pinned beneath wreckage. In Daytona, Ohio, Edward Linder, 37, Avon, killed eight month old Mildred Balmert and wounded the child’s mother, then attempted suicide. both were hospitalized with neck wounds.

Local Florist’s Auto Burned At Gas Station In Cleveland

E W Heelas owner of Heelas Flower Shop had his car badly burn on a Cleveland gas station Sunday night after a party member lit a match to test a claim that gas would not burn. Heelas was burned on the hand. the station at St Hugh Avenue and 4th Street suffered fire damage and windows were broken.

31 Bodies Pulled From Mine as Rescue Continues

Riartiler Pennsylvania May 22 The Mather coal mine rescue operation intensified today as 31 more bodies were recovered bringing the death toll to 92. One miner, Frank Bursha, was found alive after 85 hours beneath ground. rescue crews expect more bodies and fear the toll could reach hundreds as efforts stretch into the shaft depths and surrounding towns mobilize doctors and nurses.
