Local schools to get $20 490 from state aid
State Treasurer Lewis announced Warren borough will receive 20 490.84 as its share of second and third class school subsidies totaling 4 092 712. Fourth class payments began Feb 1 with 167 880.10 held back for improper certifications. Other district allocations listed include McKeesport East Pittsburgh Duquesne and many counties. Magazine Blast Near Titusville Causes Big Rupture
A Cupler Torpedo Company magazine near the Pleasantville Titusville road exploded sending a blast across Titusville and eight miles. The frame building was blown apart and a large crater formed. A fire started by a defect in the hot water system contributed to the disaster. More than 600 quarts of nitroglycerine were destroyed in the incident.

Firemen from Butler Vandergrift Leechburg Apollo Freeport New Kensington Ford City and McGraw joined local crews.
