From Panama Canal zone to Lakehurst the craft battled 40 mile winds with four ground crew aloft during a perilous descent. Ground crew injuries occurred as the blizzard tore free a ship, but a second attempt after 6 a m succeeded as wind eased. The six day cruise totaled 4325 miles and the craft covered 4620 miles including Cuba, Panama, and France, with an average speed of 42 42 mph and officials deeming the flight epoch making for possible commercial and defense use.
