Forest colors brighten Allegheny National Forest autumn
The Allegheny National Forest sees a brilliant display of fall colors aided by sunny days and cool nights. Dry undergrowth and drought conditions raise forest fire risk, prompting strict fire prohibitions except at developed areas with a campfire permit. Camping permits are free and available from four district rangers in Sheffield, Marienville, Ridgway, or Bradford, to help locate and screen isolated camps during hunting season.
