Deer Kill Totals Up From 1953 in State Back Season
Game Commission reports show 32 728 legally killed deer in 1954 compared with 31 963 in 1953 based on field division estimates. Bucks were fat and mainly found in farm areas with an exceptionally large 8 pointer weighing 250 pounds in Chester County. Weather helped hunters across most regions, except the northwest and some southern areas with bare ground reducing buck take. Final 1954 buck kill will be tallied in Harrisburg.
