Political notes on congressional candidates in Twenty eighth district

Washington reporters note J C Sibley’s decision was influenced by Major Alexander McDowell of Sharon who backed him. Wheeler did not nominate McDowell’s preferred candidate, prompting McDowell to support Sibley. Breathing room exists for Salem Heilman and W C Pettit amid pressure to run. General Willis J Hulings of Oil City is also mentioned as a potential Republican candidate, potentially energizing the contest.
