Fate of Andrews in Hands of Jury

Andrews guilty of first degree murder in Amann case

The jury returned a verdict of guilty of murder in the first degree in the Amann case. Defense moves for arrest of judgment and for new trial, which the court will consider within twenty days. Andrews accepts the verdict with composure as he awaits further proceedings.

Drowned Youth Dies in Allegheny River Accident

The 12 year old son of Mr and Mrs James Conn of Gladerun drowned Tuesday afternoon in the Allegheny river near a bridge. He was swimming alone and believed to have cramps caused the fatality. His body was recovered by Mr Hartwick after about 30 minutes in the water despite resuscitation efforts.

In a wedding scene dialogue, the father laments leaving, the bride reassures him, and the husband admits insufficient savings to begin housekeeping, promising the father will not be lost after all.

PROGRAM OF RACES FOR FOURTH OF JULY

The program for the 4th of July sports lists events and prizes. Races include 100 yards dash, broad jump, high jump, shot, and a modified marathon for ages 16 to 20 with gold and silver medals. Other events offer cash prizes or cups. The 100 yards swimming race awards a gold medal. The route is Carver House to Gladerun and back, four and a third miles.
