Remains of Abner Dwelle formerly of Rushville N Y were brought to the village cemetery for burial. He died in Nina Nevada at age 70. He leaves a brother Emmett Dwelle of Penn Yan and a sister Mrs Heese of Avoca who accompanied the body to its final resting place.

Harry Kendall Thaw, who killed Stanford White, is discharged from bankruptcy by Judge Charles P. Orr in federal court. Lancaster Pa January 5 A six year old girl Alice victim child of the late Daniel Do her of Bird in Hand was struck and killed by a passenger train while attempting to cross a railroad after a freight train passed several school mates witnessed the tragedy and narrowly escaped harm.

From Lancaster Pennsylvania on January 5 a report says the Susquehanna river has broken up as far as Turkey Hill Falls below Washington borough. A rain is forming between Turkey Hill and Safe Harbor due to ice at McCall's Ferry dam holding firm. If unmoved before upstream ice arrives serious trouble is feared.

Mrs Marie Baker an elderly woman and her daughter Mrs Mary Brown were arrested in Philadelphia on January 4 charged with picking the pocket of Mrs Esther F B Clay in a department store.
Marcus Hook report states Georgie G Williams, a recent high school graduate training as a nurse at Chester Hospital, died from injuries sustained in a fall at the hospital.
President Taft shared a light story about his son Charley at the White House. Charley, proudly mentioning his Washington address on Pennsylvania Avenue, noted his father “has a public job.” The tale also recalls a Senator introduced caller who praised reading about the President in the papers.
In Apollo Pennsylvania on December 28 two livers and two gizzards were found in a chicken from a brood nursed by a house cat. The same owner Mrs J Fitzsimmons noted a spring incident where a cat cared for a deserted brood until they could scratch. Other organs were normal.
Judge Hollane in Philadelphia court fined Philadelphia and Reading Railroad Lehigh Valley Railroad and Bethlehem Steel 40900 each for unlawful rebating. Government charged they remitted demurrage on freight cars used by Bethlehem Steel. Companies plan to appeal to the Supreme Court despite a jury recommendation for leniency.
Robert P. Criss a 19 year old Ohio Wesleyan freshman and fraternity member was arrested after a daylight diamond robbery in Marion. He forced clerk Ethel Krause to reveal a tray of diamonds valued at 5000 and pocketed two silver dollars before being chased and captured after a three block pursuit. Criss from Nicholasville Kentucky allegedly said college life and poker debts led to the theft.
Mises Mas Gansman aged 23 of Weatherly Pa died in the state hospital after swallowing the wrong bottle believed to be a headache remedy. He was visiting Scranton when he picked up one of two bottles standing together and consumed it.

Senator Stephen B. Elkins of West Virginia died at midnight in Washington D C. He was surrounded by his wife, daughter Katherine, and four sons David Richard Stephen and Blaine, with physicians present. Death was due to septicaemia. He remained conscious until about half an hour before death.
