How the Greenhorn Plays It and Meers the Tennis Star
An 1890s style survey of lawn tennis beginners and pros. It contrasts the novice struggle with the polished finesse of E G Meers, notes English and American women players, lists rising names like Miss Susie Cora Brooke Miss Lydia Ferguson and Grace Roosevelt, and comments on fashion with the tennis blazer trend shaping summer dress. The piece also touches on Westchester track and Rubinstein jubilees as backdrop.
