HarrispurG Pa Sept 4 The Democratic convention nominated Clearfield man Edmund A Bigler for state treasurer after a keynote on treasury reform. The gathering, with 803 delegates, endorsed tariff reform and Cleveland’s line, while 96 votes opposed Bigler but he was later made unanimous.

Russell Pa September 5 Our town was visited by house breakers last night on the wholesale plan. Dee Sumner's residence was entered with a pocket book about seven dollars taken. James Hevenor's place was entered but nothing lost. They attempted John Hodges and raised a window at Manford Sadler and fled. Around 4 a m Dr Cowden met two men who fled into the bushes. Police suspect Javes town toughs headed to the Warren fair.

Fatal Engineer Killed in Colegrove Railroad Wreck
Two freight trains on the Buffalo Philadelphia line collided at Colegrove Station near Buffalo. Engineer Dr. B Comstock was killed. a brakeman was badly hurt after leaping from the train. Fifteen cars wrecked and the wreck caught fire before firefighters from the National Transit Pump Station doused the flames. Comstock allegedly waited for the extra and may have been asleep at the moment of impact.
