Capitol Front Transforms to Palace Like Modern Wonders

A long-desired Capitol front modernization will be completed in months, turning the west front into a grand terrace. The redesign, likened to prime ancient or modern palaces, aims to set the oath taking on a new ceremonial axis toward a vast western expanse, reshaping Washington’s urban panorama. The plan includes the executive mansion, Washington Monument, Smithsonian, and other federal district buildings, with the city organized around this monumental axis and parkland.
