Labor Strife Sparks Train Battle with Marshals in Montana

In Briarxes Montana on April 25 Hogan's 500 man group seized a train followed by 75 US marshals. A clash ensued with shots fired injuring a deputy and a marshal. President Cleveland authorized federal interception while the unrest spreads to coal, textile regions and mass walkouts near Washington and beyond.

Wedding Bells at Sugar Grove Echo

A pleasant social wedding occurred on Wednesday evening April 11 when Homer W. Dalrymple married Mary S. Miller at the bride’s father Frank Miller’s home near town. Rev R J White conducted the ceremony before a large gathering, guests left tokens of esteem, the bride a Sugar Grove Seminary graduate. The couple will reside on a prosperous Conewango Township farm about five miles from Warren.

Schumann Lady Quartette to Return Visit Warren May 31

The Schumanns announce a return visit by the Schumann Lady Quartette to Warren on Thursday, May 31, at Library Hall. Those who heard them last winter will be glad to be entertained again and those who did not should attend. Miss Shoemaker, the Delsarte artist, will also be present with a new varied program of songs. All lovers of fine music should not miss the concert.

All exams start at 9 o'clock. applicants must be 17 or older and bring a stamped envelope and foolscap. Bear Hunt Ends Brutally in Cherry Grove

J Farnsworth and T Criswell, residents of Cherry Grove township, trapped three large bears and a cub. The cub and two big bears were killed. the third bear broke loose, attacked Farnsworth, breaking three ribs. Criswell stabbed and killed the attacking bear after injuring his left arm. Neighbors carried both men and the 600 pound bear home.
