Death of an Old Warrenite in Brasinerox Wis
John W. Strong aged about 74 died April 11 from Brights Disease at his home in Rush River valley Pierce County Wisconsin. He leaves a wife and sister Mrs J H Brasington. He formerly lived in Kinzua Pennsylvania where his father Elephar Strong and brothers Sylvester and Roswell resided. He moved to the West in 1853, settling in Pierce County and remained there until his death.

General Henry W. Slocum died at his Brooklyn home after about a week of illness from pneumonia. A native of New York, he joined the Civil War as colonel of the Twenty seventh New York Infantry, was wounded at Bull Run, rose to brigadier general, led a division in the Peninsular campaign, and earned major general rank. He later commanded in the Army of the Potomac and a division of the Twelfth corps during the Atlanta campaign and the march to the sea.
