Montana Power Supt Visits Wallace and Electrification Plans
M F Buck of Butte, Montana Power Company superintendent, toured Wallace this week with local representative R Peel. Buck outlined Montana Power and Idaho Transmission operations, electrification of the Milwaukee line from Harlowtown to Avery and plans to extend electric motive power toward Othello and Tacoma, noting wartime pauses and potential mining resume in Butte. He warned that taxes take about 12 dollars per hundred of gross receipts, yet expressed cautious optimism for recovery as Anaconda Mining resumes and mining wages adjust.

Some board members contend a main shaft and tunnel can still be treated as separate mines, which could create additional taxable profits and raise state revenue.
