Hoar Mucking Machine Interests Mining Men
Captain Samuel Hoar of Virginia Mini, inventor and company president, visited the Coeur d'Alene district with directors Edward Lindsay and Edward Lynch. The Hoar mucking machine has gained wide use in iron and copper mines, with demonstrations at Ajax Mining and delivery plans through Coeur d'Alene Hardware & Foundry. Mining officials, including Campbell, McDougal, and John F Allen, praised its efficiency though noted hand mucking can be cheaper overall. Campbell argues powder costs for hand mucking should be allocated to mucking costs, potentially leveling expenses while preserving time savings from the machine.
