Sidney Ore Rise Promises Bigger Lead Shipments

High grade lead ore bodies opened on Sidney Pine creek. leasers plan three trucks to haul about four tons each as shipments resume at a rapid pace. The Sidney vein, discovered 30 years ago by L W Gay, is being developed further with a tunnel and crosscut expected to reveal a continued rich ore shoot.

James H. Taylor Seeks Third District County Commissioner Seat

James H. Taylor announced before leaving for the Bullion last Monday that he will seek the Republican nomination for county commissioner from the third district. He would succeed Dr. D. B. Keys of Mullan, who will not seek re election. Taylor, longtime chairman of the county central committee, has been active in Coeur d Alene Republican affairs and served as mayor during two or three terms, including a term when paving of streets and alleys began.

Kellogg Man Announces Candidacy for Second District Commissioner

D W Price of Kellogg enters the republican race for county commissioner from the second district. He seeks to succeed Ed Miller, who will not seek reelection. Price’s opponent for the nomination is Eugene Thomas of Osburn, whose announcement appeared in the Miner last week.

Widow to receive $1000 monthly from Day estate

Agnes Loretta Day, widow of Eugene R. Day, was granted a $1000 monthly advance by probate order dated after the death of E R Day. The allowance, paid by executors Jerome J. Day and Harry L. Day, deducts $1250 previously advanced, and does not affect the estate’s disposition. The inheritance dispute remains unsettled as an inventory and appraisers are to be appointed. Harry L. Day has qualified as an executor and plans for Day properties and ore contracts are not yet announced.

Annual Assessment Work Under New Law

The new law sets July 1 as the end of the assessment year creating a need for claim owners who did not perform their 1921 annual labor to begin soon. Many claim owners owe zero work and plan to complete 1922 labor after July 1, then defer two years 1923 and 1924 until spring 1928. This plan suits those unable to do more, offering economy and convenience.

Stanley Meeting Stockholders of Stanley Consolidated Mining

The annual meeting of stockholders of Stanley Consolidated Mining will be held at Exchange National Bank building in Spokane on June 12. The company, controlled by the Days, includes a large group of claims adjoining Humming Bird on the east and north. The Hercules tunnel passes through the ground and rumors once suggested a promising vein, but no development has occurred to date.

Prospect tunnel and drifting show a vein 2.5 to 8 feet wide with value estimates up to 60 per ton. Outlook notes rising activity as Bunker Hill and Big Creek deals spur investment in the Willow Creek district.

Alma Ray Kellogg Company Elects Officers for New Year

Stockholders of the Alma Ray Mining Company met Monday night to elect officers. Directors chosen were R. A. Brockman as president, Peter Engle as vice president, D. H. Barnhart, John Gaby, and Elmer Brown. C. B. Forbes was named secretary-treasurer. A report from management noted the vein’s discovery with several feet of mineralized copper, silver, and gold at the lower tunnel and plans to continue exploration on this vein.

Chas G Taylor manager of Giant Ledge Mining reports in Wallace after Spokane stockholders meeting. New high grade ore shoot 16 inches thick just struck fuels optimism. Company plans mill completion and mine outfitting for production. Large tonnage expected on 200 and 400 levels amid strong lead prices. Giant Ledge lies about four miles above Murray.

The Miner announces Donald A. Callahan as a candidate for senator from Shoshone county subject to the Republican primary on August 1. Callahan previously served in the lower house representing this county as a member of the last legislature.

A letter from manager William Schwabe to company president William Weyer dated May 15 describes a Cedar Creek strike with 15 inches of galena in crosscut No 8 and a 300 foot long shoot of lead-silver ore. The report notes extensive ore in Nos 2 and 3 crosscuts, continuous milling ore along the main drift, and a 135 foot raise to connect with a wing for ventilation, signaling a bright outlook and possible mill construction.

Lease at Mineral Point Seeks Silver Vein Development

Osburn businessman Hr. I. Jaynes has secured a lease on the Mineral Point property and a survey by mining engineer FE Gnaedinger has mapped the area. Historic shipments by Cash Patterson and associates yielded rich gray copper ore, with shoots up to five feet wide. Jaynes plans to open the vein via No 2 tunnel, aiming to reach a probable parallel ore shoot near Polaris fault. The Mineral Point lies just south of Osburn.
