Mucking Record Set At Butte Mining Contest

Robert Hosfeld, a 32 year old miner at Mountain Consolidated mine, mucked a car of rock in 1 minute 5 seconds at Butte on a Miner’s Day contest, beating Fa Timmons’ record by 54.5 seconds. Hosfeld, with 20 years in mining, used a standard 1000 pound lime rock car and exhibited smooth lifts without knee strain.

Weniger Seeks Control Of Black Bear Company

Lincoln Mining Company forms to develop Silverado property

The Lincoln Mining company is a new corporation organized to develop the Silverado property near Osburn. Directors include Herman J. Joas president ML Savage vice president Franklin Armin secretary treasurer and William J. Newton manager. A five year bond and lease covers all property and equipment, including 26 unpatented claims patented mine site 40 acres of adjoining mining claims a 100 ton flotation mill 7 drill compressor well equipped blacksmith shop a dried air pipeline a 15 pound rail tunnel nearly a mile long ore cars and more. Newton, ex Yankee Boy manager, will direct operations and theory places the Yankee Boy vein 200 feet further south on the Silverado as main to be extended to reach the Polaris vein.

Success mine signs contract with Anaconda Co in Great Falls sale

Mining company closes a contract with Anaconda Copper Mining Co for sale of its entire zinc output from the Success mine. Shipments begin to the electrolytic zinc reduction plant at Great Falls, Montana. Kennedy of the Buceesa Co expresses satisfaction. Concentrates on hand total about 500 tons awaiting better disposal. Anaconda representatives visit Wallace and secure stock on hand and future output. Company shifts to higher grade zinc recovery and expands milling with new facilities and a 12 foot retaining wall.
