Hecla may resume production in five to six months

Hecla Mining predicts restoration of mine operations within five or six months using the old hoist temporarily if insurers agree. Progress at the plant continues with cleanup, water control, and crane-equipped cars from Bunker Hill, while pumping and ventilation efforts proceed to lower water and unwater deeper levels.

Hidden ore found on Nine Mile at Shoshone mine site

P F McGovern of Northwest Mining and Milling uncovered buried galena ore half a mile up Nine Mile near the tunnel portal. The find suggests a pay shoot though the ore is not yet commercially graded. A prior belief that owners would abandon the property after concealment proved unfounded.

Crosscut Expansion Plans For Blue Bell Mining

Directors of Blue Bell Mining approve continued development on Big Creek claims. A 5 mill assessment funds a deeper crosscut toward a vein with expectations of a commercial ore body. Chicago-linked officers report strong outlook as 16 claims control 800 acres and crews push 60 feet of crosscut amid hard quartite days.

Board of Trade Backs Home Building Plan for Canyon Miners

Wallace board of trade backs a home building program for canyon mines employees with a revolving fund to buy land and build homes, offering transportation and support as a model for community growth. The committee includes R T Strachan and H J Rossi, with a plan to raise funds and redeploy profits to build and sell dwellings. The motion to adopt the report passed unanimously, and new officers were nominated for president and other posts.

Shine Mining Company, which acquired the old holdings of Yankee Bay, is a large shipper of high grade silver ore. Both properties are close to our holdings and in the same formation, which encourages us in the belief that upon reaching the vein we will encounter ore in commercial quantities.

Tarbox Mining Company elects new officers and directors

At last Monday’s annual meeting Tarbox Mining elected Dr. H. C. Mowery as president Geo A Morumer as vice president Herman Marquardt as secretary treasure John A Lewis and H B Kingsbury join the board. Directors plan to continue current limited surface operations on the Tarbox vein and then develop the big south vein, which may yield better results than the Tarbox.

Eldorado Lease Advances to Mill Construction Near Kellogg

Leaser F. M. Thurson of Coeur d’Alene has secured a lease of Eldorado Mining and Smelting property and will soon start building a concentrating mill east of Kellogg across the river. Ore assayed to $68 in silver and gold and $20 in platinum. Concentrates will be trucked to a platinum refinery by Wilson Mutual Mining & Milling near Wolf Lodge on Lake Coeur d’Alene shore.

Miners Picnic at Kellogg features Borah speech

The twentieth annual miners picnic at Kellogg on August 10 and 11 will feature Senator W E Borah speaking at 10 AM Saturday to draw Idaho and Coeur d Alene district audiences. Other highlights include music, machine drilling contests with cash prizes, a mucking contest, boy and girl events with prizes, airplane stunts by Lieut No Ro Mamer and a parachute leap by Daredevil Dodge, with rides at $5. Friday hosts a muckers ball. Saturday offers free dancing and a big picnic ball in the auditorium and Odd Fellows hall, plus a boxing contest at 8 PM in the ball park.

Moe Company explores vein near Gold Creek led by W K Moe

W K Moe, president of Moe Mining, reports ore samples from east and west drifts of the lower crosscut tunnel on Gold Creek. The crosscut runs 626 feet to 800 feet depth, with a 10 foot wide vein rich in iron and siderite, plus chalcopyrite and gray copper in the west drift. Extension toward the main vein is expected to yield a commercial lead silver ore body, as prospecting reveals signs of wider mineralization and potential connection to a vein near surface.
