Geological report on Shoshone County ore deposits

Let Contract to Extend Crosscut at Hercules Mine

The C and B company has let a contract to extend the main crosscut south 200 feet. Work paused last year after reaching a vein of promise not the target. the crosscut will proceed toward the main vein. Manager Roberts plans drifting on the first vein and expects a strong ore shoot. The company owns five patented and three unpatented claims north of Hercules, separated by Guelph and Amdergris. conditions are said to be similar to Hercules, with a compressor driven by electric power and solid buildings for development.

Ajax crosscut nears Moonlight vein as ore prospects rise

Ajax Mining reports the crosscut from Gorge Gulch is close to the Moonlight vein. Depths reached include 200 feet with a further 100 feet sunk and drifting exposing ore. Management expects to strike the Ajax vein about 600 feet below the upper workings and notes a large body of commercial ore may be found once the crosscut reaches the vein. A. C. Bixby, Ajax manager, states the crosscut has progressed 431½ feet with about 1,200 feet to go.

Northwest Employers Urged to Hire Disabled Veterans

L C Joseph of Seattle district manager for the United States Veterans bureau appeals to employers in Washington Oregon Idaho and Alaska to hire rehabilitated ex service men over the next six months about 780 will be ready for responsible positions after government training. Richmond Consolidated Mining plans reorganization and debt relief

The Richmond Consolidated Mining company directs stockholders to expect a reorganization via an Idaho corporation. common shares align with old holdings, a small per share assessment scheme funds the tunnel drive, and nonpaid shares will be auctioned. The East Caledonia shaft near Wardner, Idaho, is being developed with Bunker-Chance for a crosscut toward a potentially rich vein linked to the Caledonia.

First Aid Contests At Mullan Award Results

Engineer K T Sparks announced results of July 3 first aid contests at Mullan. Hecla Mine No 93 led with 94 per cent, Tamarack 92.6, Bunker Hill and Sullivan 92.3. First prize was 100 dollars and second 50. Judges were Dr W C Lindsay, Dr Kennett, Dr F W Rolfs, Dr D E Keys. Competing teams listed by mine and captain names.

Bullion mine halts drift due to heavy water flow

Heavy water flow at the Bullion mine disrupted work as crews halted the main drift being pushed east under a high mountain in search of copper ore. Management expects the water to subside soon and operations to resume, with ore shows improving and a strong prospect for a rich body.

Stringers of Galena Near Wardner Reported by Hill Co

Samples of galena from the Hill Mining and Milling crosscut near Wardner were shown at W J Stratton's office. The pieces come from stringers thought to be offshoots of a larger ore body to be reached at about 300 feet depth. The Hill property lies east of and adjacent to East Caledonia, and the vein is expected to be reached with a round.

Wilson Mining and Stocking Co Annual Stockholders Meet

Wilson Mining and Stocking company held its annual stockholders meeting at Saltese last Tuesday. The Saltese property lies about two and a half miles from town along Sliver creek and shows a fine surface with lead and silver ore in an upper tunnel discovered years ago. A crescent tusteen will intersect the vein at about 400 feet. President William Burke plans to go east to secure funds to finish the crosscut with the exploitable ore. Officers and directors listed include Grace Farmer and Margaret Metz of Saltese as vice president and director, GW Dougherty of Wallace as secretary-treasurer, and Abbie Burke of Saltese as a director.

Federal contract for 9-inch gravel surface on Coeur d'Alene Yellowstone highway

The Federal Bureau of Public Roads awarded contracts to Triangle Construction of Spokane to surface 11.36 miles from Cataldo west and to Doust & HeCamp of Spokane to surface 11.18 miles from Bennett's Bay east on the Coeur d'Alene Yellowstone highway. A 8 mile gap remains unsurfaced but in good condition and not planned for surfacing. Work must begin immediately and be completed within 120 working days.
