Dividends Paid by Coeur d'Alene Mines in First Half 1923

Five Coeur d'Alene mining companies paid $2,668,768 in dividends in the first half of 1923 with total to date about $77 million. Lead prices fell since June and silver hovered near 65 cents an ounce, while production prospects remained steady as mines expand levels and ore reserves.

Sonora Mining Crosscuts Vein From Lower Tunnel

Sonora Mining and Milling Company reports a crosscut to prospect a vein of great use aged about a year or more. At about 75 feet depth the vein shows 18 inches of quartz and galena with high grade streaks. Westward drift 40 feet and east drift similar, but less rich. Now extending from a lower tunnel at about 360 feet depth, a crosscut aims to reach the vein within about 50 feet with a favorable outlook for a commercial ore body.

Pine Creek Branch Restored Two Miles Of Track

Two miles of Pine creek track are almost finished with a spur at Heim ranch completing the restoration. The line will ease ore haul from various properties and lumber from the sawmill by shortening the trip and removing the worst road section. A reported agreement with the O W R N company to extend to the forks was unconfirmed.

Tarbox Mining stockholders meet to discuss plans

Labor In Alaska Report On Territory Conditions

Ben Stewart as inspector of mines for the territory has produced and submitted to Alaska’s governor a report on labor conditions during the past biennium. The Alaska legislature ordered the publication, aided by the Alaska experiment station of the Bureau of Mines. The Spokane Stock Exchange adjourned for the holiday week, causing no stock quotations in The Miner this week.

Stampede as silver lodge found near Happy Creek Yukon

At midnight in Dawson during Empire day celebrations news spread of a silver lodge found at Happy Creek, 40 miles south of Yukon. Prospectors rushed to the waterways, filling rowboats canoes and launches as the rush began and excitement spread through dance halls and mining camps.

Guelph firm resumes ore development after long halt

A. Corby of Kellogs announces Guelph Mining and Milling resumes property tax development financed by selling treasury stock. Work begins on a drift from the Hart bottom with hope to reveal commercial ore. The company owns five patented plats near Herscules and Ambergris, with Antavis vein extension anticipated. Newton Returns as Callahan Zinc Lead Plans Advance

NEWTON RETURNS, manager of the Callahan Zinc Lead Company, reports no major public action at the directors meeting. Amy Matchless Mine to Install 100 Ton Mill

The Amy Matchless Mining company will soon have a 100 ton capacity mill ready for operation. Construction of the mill building is advanced and machinery and equipment will be on site shortly under the direction of Oscar Nordquist, a renowned millwright. Recent development work from the main tunnel level has substantially increased ore reserves, and the mine is positioned to sustain steady production after the mill is finished, located near the Pine Creek branch end.

Mill for Caribou near completion at Caribou Mine

The Merchants' Transfer company of Coeur d Alene is hauling the remaining mining machinery from Hallidie Machinery in Spokane for the Caribou Mining company. The load includes a gasoline engine, compressor, drilling outfit, crusher, belting and pipe. Hallidie casts iron for refinery furnaces and expects shipment within a week or ten days. Mill site excavation finished last night and concrete foundation is being poured today.

Silversmith Mines to Pay Dividend on July 10
