War Council Plan For Wakefield War Effort

Wednesday evening at the Wakefield high school auditorium Reverend Healey urged every man to join a new five member War Council. The council will secure a pledged monthly sum from every citizen and distribute it to war relief causes without sectarian bias, replacing ad hoc drives with a systematic, township wide campaign.

Mine Accident at Plymouth Claims Engineer Finnegan

A grave mine accident at Plymouth near Friday night killed engineer John Finnegan and severely burned fireman James Nardo. An engine and a passing locomotive derailed from the pit as another engine lurched toward the edge. crew members on other locomotives escaped with minor injuries. Finnegan had recently arrived from St. Paul with the Butler Bros contract for stripping Plymouth. Further details were unavailable at press time.
