Local County Sends Three Officers to Active Duty
Word arrived Wednesday that A. L. Rummel and F. A. Sergeant who attended the second officer training camp at Fort Sheridan received commissions as First Lieutenant in the Infantry. W. H. Daggett of Bessemer also earned a similar commission. They were the county’s only three attendees and the community offers congratulations. The trio will be home on furlough soon but must report for active duty on December 15.

Knights of Columbus Campaign in Gogebic County
The Knights of Columbus launch a drive from December 2 to December 9 in Gogebic County to fund recreation centers for boys in training and at the front. The drive mirrors the Y M C A effort, aims to aid military life, and centers will be open to all boys regardless of faith as Wakefield and other areas are urged to participate.
