Veteran mining man dies at W. 3 Davies residence
John J. Jewell, longtime mining chief and pioneer in Morley and Hurley, dies at his daughter Mrs. W. J. Davies home Tuesday noon after months of infirm health. He came to Gogebic range in 1886 and held posts at Chicago Mine Crest Western Mine and later retired. Survived by five children including Oscar, widow Mrs. Jewell died ten years ago. Funeral announced for Ironwood with interment at Hurley.
