Two Injured Boys After Coasting Accident on Wakefield Hill
Two nine year old boys, LeRoy Jakeway and Richard Hasbrook, were injured when a coasting sled crossed the Wakefield Iron Hill and was struck by an approaching car. Jakeway suffered a base skull fracture and serious condition, while Hasbrook received a deep forehead wound. The driver stopped quickly. witnesses deem the crash unavoidable. Hasbrook returned home after treatment. Jakeway remained under medical care with uncertain recovery for several days. The county road commission ordered four rotary snow plows for Wakefield Ironwood routes, costing about 8000 dollars.
