New City Club Opens in Waco with 300 Members

The new City Club of Waco opened officially on Thursday in the First National Building between the tower and bank building. An exclusive sneak preview for reporters revealed a red carpet interior and a special elevator to the third floor. New manager Mrs. Vondrane Ford reports membership already over 300.

Poage Sees Waco Ties to Federal Spending and Needs

Employment Up in McLennan County Amid Summer Labor Shift

McLennan County saw higher total employment in May and June driven by farming and entering students. Manufacturing gains balanced nonfarm declines from school term layoffs as unemployment rose from 2450 mid May to 3025 mid June, with 3030 in June.
