Gust Garlaon, 28, single, lived with his parents on a farm east of Dunnell Minnesota. He had stepped from the house to the barn when a thunderbolt struck Saturday morning during a storm, killing him. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. Linger.

Thomas J. Bikins 20, corporal in the Fourteenth Infantry of Des Moines, died by drowning in West Okoboji lake at Arnold's Park Saturday. Conflicting accounts say he fell from a towed boat amid high waves or overturned a boat during a squall while with his brother J C Briggs. the rescuers recovered the brother, and the body was taken to Des Moines for burial.
