A state wide milk survey in Iowa, run by the Department of Agriculture and the American Child Health Association over eight weeks, covered 683 samples from 344 dairies selling 18 770 gallons daily to 286 000 people across 41 towns and cities. Overall results were satisfactory with few tests below standard. Ducks and geese were seen mid winter near Ankeny and Cresco reported unusual birds.

Massive haul of soft fish taken from Des Moines River

At the river mouth 65 000 pounds of soft fish mainly buffalo were captured from the Des Moines River when a quarter mile long seine was drawn under the ice. The fishermen were from Alexandria on the Missouri side of the stream.
