Negro Williams Accused Of Cursing White Wife On Farm

The Process reports Berry Williams a laborer on W H J Carmack’s Pinehurst area farm cursed and abused his wife while Carmack was away. After a dispute over washing Mrs Carmack retrieved a pistol and Williams fled. Carmack offers a 26 dollar reward for capture.

Serious Injuries Lead to Death of Mr Ivey in Cotton Wagon Accident

Mr Ivey, a salesman for the J warehouse of Mr R L Barfield in Emerick, suffered fatal injuries after a timber fell while unloading cotton. A team bolted, the wagon ran over him, and he died Tuesday night around 11 o clock. The Progress expresses sympathy to the family.

Giant rattler captured near Toombs Morgan place

Joe Morgan brought a colossal rattlesnake to town last Saturday. Found on a branch at Mr. Toombs Morgan's place about five miles from town, the snake measured 91 inch body circumference, about 5 feet long, weighing around 25 pounds with sixteen rattles and a button.

Warren Pate Folda, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J B Folds, died September 1 1899 at their Pinehurst home after a brief brain congestion illness. Attended by Dr. Roberts of Pinehurst and his uncle Dr. Warren Hall of Oakfield, he was ten years old and twin to Mary Coleman who died four years earlier. Buried at Mt Olive cemetery.
