General Presentments of 1899 County Officials Report
The Grand Jury reviews roads, jails, bridges, poor house, and tax matters. It urges repairs, authorizes payments to widows, and notes a smallpox stamp out effort. It condemns malpractices by a Justice, adds juror per diems, reports assessed taxes, and calls for publication of the presentments. It records true bills for illegal voting and commends the court and judge. The penitentiary committee reports on Richwood and Dakota camps, health and mortality, escapes, and recommends renewals for the camp superintendents.
