A mob expected a public hanging of a Black man named Asbury Mills but the condemned escaped before execution. Guards loaded a coffin and wagon, with a gallows prepared, yet the prisoner leapt free as it neared the site, amid excited chatter among spectators. An ad for Woolford's Sanitary Lotion followed.
A set of reader notices from Dooly County voters announcing candidacies for public office. W. E. Beacham seeks the Representative seat subject to Democratic nomination and support. D. A. Taylor runs for Treasurer with pledge to serve county interests and fair means. J. R. Kelly seeks re election as Treasurer, pledging loyalty to Democratic processes and to the people’s choice.
Two candidates announce for the Democratic Primary in Dooly County. J A Broxton declares uprightness and pledges to faithfully discharge duties if elected. Jas A Williams also announces, seeking Democratic nomination and requests citizen consideration.
