In Dearing Georgia on May 7 Charlie Harris a negro farm hand who shot and wounded Hayden Pearson a prominent farmer was lynched by about forty masked men. Harris body riddled with bullets. The mob whipped Harris family and forced them from McDuffie county. Pearson shot Harris for poor work and may die. A posse captured Harris and began escort to Thompson but swamp obstacles halted the pursuit.
