Wind Rips Schoolhouse. Fatal and Several Hurt
A fierce typhoon struck a small plantation school near Tippettville during Sunday services, collapsing the building and trapping sixty or more. One child died and several were seriously injured, with others sustaining cuts and broken bones. Mr A E Walton helped remove debris, finding Miss Gammage alive but gravely injured, and his young daughter Wilmer dead from a fallen timber. Funeral plans were disrupted by another storm but proceeded the next day in the city cemetery.

Five Colored Selectmen Sent to Camp Gordon
Five colored selectmen left yesterday morning over the G. S. I. & F. for Camp Gordon. Dooly’s quota for this movement was seven. Kronen Foe oe Those who composed the movement were Sam Wormley Sam Whaley John H. Patrick Geo Edwards and William Keen. The 12 cylinder Liberty motor weighs 825 pounds and develops 450 horsepower. The gasoline consumption is about 0.4 pound per horsepower. Butter is given and there is plenty of cereals and green vegetables. It is desirable to have a more varied diet including sugar fruit eggs and meats with fish and fowl.
