The two week protracted meeting at the Baptist church will end with Sunday night services. Rev. Long, assisting Pastor Cutts, returns to Fort Valley after tonight. No Saturday preaching. Sunday services proceed. Baptism planned after the night sermon. Seventeen accessions recorded.
Prof C J Taylor who led Vienna Public School for two years and recently re elected for a year with higher pay has resigned after accepting the superintendency of Sylvester school at an increased salary He is praised as a capable teacher and pleasant figure who earned many friends in the city.
Byromville beat Dooling 28 to 7 in a lively afternoon baseball match. Dooling had help from an Oglethorpe Marshallville battery, but Byromville prevailed in its first game, showing promise for South Georgia amateur baseball.
G M Lasseter of Vienna Ga thanks the people of Vienna and surrounding country for material assistance during five weeks of suffering from a mule kick. He wishes God’s blessings and hopes to return the help in the future.

Atlanta June 11 The Georgia Farmers Union issued a challenge to the Georgia Bankers Association to debate immigration at five points in the state. Signed by President R F Duckworth the move follows a bankers association commission endorsing immigration. The farmers union strongly opposes the immigration movements.
Ivey King a black convict at Bowers Kendall camp ten miles southwest of Newton Georgia fatally wounded guard Arthur Druncon with a Winchester rifle as other convict aided him. The pair escaped while Sheriff Perry and posse pursued them through the woods.
A.G. Kinyon road foreman of engines for the Danville division of the Southern railway has unveiled a cotton picking machine designed to straddle a row and suction ripe cotton into a rear receptacle. The device aims to harvest up to three and a half bales daily, comparable to 85 laborers, with automatic vacuum operation that avoids damaging stalks. Savannah and Hawkinsville leaders backed a stock company to exploit the idea, with Kinyon as president and Murray M. Stewart as secretary and treasurer.
