White foreman injured in mill assault near Cordele
J A Wedeworth a prominent white foreman at Cordele Door Lumber Co was seriously cut in an altercation with Lam Porter a Black mill worker. Porter allegedly stabbed Wedeworth after refusing orders and fled. Wedeworth received a gash near the neck and was treated with stitches. Police pursued Porter but he remained at large as of press time.

Fine Cotton and Corn Stalks Reported by Judge McCormick
Judge J. McCormick of Findlay sent in a news note describing a corn stalk from his farm gathered on June 1 that season. It stood nineteen inches and had sixty blossoms and eleven squares. He also brought a seven foot three inch corn stalk with five silks from a twelve acre field, noting it as a special breed bred for years and the finest seen.

Four Men Freed in Peonage Case at Maton Ga
In Maton Georgia on May 1 the jury acquitted Jory Deputy Sheriff Joab Horne William B. Chauncey and Lake DePree on all nine counts of the federal peonage indictment.
