Vidalia Gets Free Express Delivery

Beginning Tuesday November 1 the American Railway Express Co started free express delivery for Vidalia’s business district and dense residential areas. Kiwanis Club members lobbied officials for months. J E Tye was hired for the service. The first round occurred Tuesday morning with the New Vidalia Hotel as the first delivery site and Dixie Cotton Co as the initial pickup.

Examination for Cobbtown Post Office Held in Vidalia

An examination to fill the office of postmaster at Cobbtown and the office at Uvalda, each salary 1200 dollars, will be held at Vidalia on November 26. Appointments will follow the exam unless a vacancy is filled by transfer or promotion in the interest of the service.

Funeral services for Mr W F Price who died last week at his son’s home in Miami Florida were conducted in Swainsboro on Saturday He was the father of Mr J T Price of Vidalia and left many friends in this region grieved by the loss.

No Nomination at Mass Meeting Monday Night

At city hall a large turnout gathered to discuss a ticket for city officers but no nominations were made. Prominent business men were proposed yet nearly every nominee withdrew or refused to serve.

L. N. and B. M. Brown, owners of Brown's Pharmacy, purchased the Union Drug Co. business and will operate it as Brown's Pharmacy. Mr B. M. Brown will oversee the Vidalia store and now resides in Lyons, with the Browns welcomed to the local business and social community.

Clean-Up Squad in Vidalia Tours Georgia This Week

The United States Veterans Bureau based in Atlanta conducts a four month Georgia tour to aid disabled World War I veterans. About 150 men have appeared in Vidalia with Red Cross help for filing claims and affidavits. The squad, led by J W Butler, will move to Augusta next for seven days.
