Tom Galbreath bound over to the superior court on murder charges after a lengthy Lyons preliminary hearing at the courthouse. The June shooting near Center church left William Galbreath dead and Cicero and Fred Mathews mortally wounded. Also present were George Tippett and Mannie Booth, whose cases moved to Monday for possible waiver of the preliminary trial.

Blaze Destroys Ev eready Storage Battery Co Building
Fire damaged a two story brick building on Railroad avenue housing Ev eready Storage Battery Co. Mr C W Hamilton owner of the structure had no insurance with losses about 6000 dollars while Mr S B Davis proprietor of the battery stock carried 3000. Fire detected about 1230 and flames overwhelmed the lower floor before departments restrained the blaze. Hamilton plans to rebuild soon.

Harold C Geiger, lost in action at Chateau-Thierry June 16 1918, will have remains arrive in New York July 15 per telegram to his mother Mrs J B Geiger. Exact Mt Vernon arrival date not yet fixed. He was son of late Col J B Geiger and served in the 5th Marines after training at Parris Island.

Mr Friedman of the State Highway department told the Metter board of commissioners that a $10,000 state appropriation to this county is released for the Dixie Overland Highway. The county convict force must begin work on August 15.

Egg circle demonstrates profitable egg grading in Lynns Bridge
Miss Maggie Bethea home demonstration agent organized an egg circle at Lynns Bridge School. Thirty dozen eggs shipped to Savannah were priced 21 cents per dozen on arrival but receipts show the eggs sold at 37 cents per dozen. Also reported is a five foot rattlesnake killed near Cobb town chicken farm, with fourteen young ones found in its mouth and slain.

After consultation with area warehousemen, Vidalia Tobacco Warehouse lessee J A Warren says the local warehouse opens Thursday morning. Buyers lack full company instructions so early sales may be light until Tuesday or Wednesday next week, with daily sales planned except Saturday. Higher grades should fetch good prices for well cared crops.
