Vidalia area farmers plan to plant a good acreage in tobacco this year with prices expected to rise. E L Meadows will plant about 25 acres after consulting with War ren and Vidalia warehouse leader S B Meadows. The Georgia and Florida Railway helps by providing free fresh seed and tobacco expertise to farmers in the region.

Fire destroys residence of J. T. Price in Oconee Heights
A dwelling owned by Mrs. Taylor and occupied by J. T. Price in Oconee Heights burned Wednesday night around 11. The cause is believed to be a defective flue. Only a small portion of household goods survived. Price had furniture insurance. Taylor had no building coverage.

Store of D C Harris Destroyed by Fire
Fire early Sunday nearly wiped out the stock of D C Harris in the Linder building on Church street. Loss estimated about 17000, largely covered by insurance. Fire discovered by Gaston Lennon at about 4 am. quick response confined flames to the store though stock ruined. Origin suspected to be a cigarette stub. Harris plans to reopen after insurance settlement and repairs.

Mrs Lizzie Russell Former Brunswick Resident Dies in Vidalia
Mrs Lizzie Combes Russell aged 69 widow of L M Russell died early Saturday at her son M Arthur Russell's home after a gradual decline since her husband’s death. Born in Linn County Iowa she married in 1880 and moved to Brunswick before later living in Vidalia. Funeral 4 pm at home conducted by Rev W M Blitch. Interment Pine Crest cemetery. Survived by sons M A Russell Vidalia and Raymond Russell Macon.
