Vidalia Depot Delay Stalls Seaboard Freight Plans
In a Vidalia meeting W. J. DeLoach and W. A. Jones pressed Seaboard Railway Superintendent E. C. Bagwell for a new freight depot. Bagwell cited a $25 000 budget and a $2 million loss in nine months, saying funds are unavailable unless the town builds a comparable facility. Robbers steal wagon load of flour and shoes
A night theft near the G. and F. depot led to the recovery of a case of shoes and forty sacks of flour. Constable Ford and County Policeman Mallard chased the wagon trail, arrested J. E. Johnson miles from town, and issued warrants for two accomplices. The wagon, dog, and blind mule were recovered. Johnson remains jailed at Lyons.

Oak Park man shot in accidental pistol mishap
A. L. Powell of Oak Park was accidentally shot last Saturday morning while handling a pistol. The bullet pierced his thigh producing an ugly flesh wound. The injury is not serious and Powell is expected to recover in a few days.

Vidalia residents push highway route change to save crossings
Citizens of Vidalia urge altering the Mt. Vernon Lyons route to pass through Vidalia avoiding Seaboard and M. D. & S. crossings. Proponents say moving the highway west of the city and onto First Street near the Vidalia school would cut crossings and shorten the route by about three quarters of a mile. Engineers review the suggestion for board consideration before final agreement.

Cattle Dipping Rules Relax for Lowland Farmers
Under a U S Department of Agriculture order effective December 1 farmers in the lower edge of the county are released from further dipping of cattle kept in fields due to tick-infested oxen. Open range cattle must continue dipping. Dr Arundel oversees the program and will ensure range cattle are dipped regularly. Treutlen County section released from dipping on December 1.

Colored boy receives cuts in mistaken identity attack
Willie Montgomery, about 18, was attacked in Vidalia near the African Baptist church by Dry, who says he waited for another boy. Montgomery required twenty four stitches for deep head and shoulder blade wounds and is expected to recover. Dry, arrested, faces an assault with intent to murder charge awaiting trial in Lyons jail.
